Some traditions you simply have to see to believe—and our Goose Walk is one of them. Every Wednesday–Friday at 4:30 PM (weather permitting), Farmer Andy Thewlis, accompanied by his trusty sidekick Alayna, leads our own little march down Middle Street: Andy serenading the street with his vintage soprano saxophone… with our flock of American Buff geese waddling proudly behind him… on parade. This delightfully Instagram-worthy affair includes a stop for a hilarious, ask-anything Q&A where Andy shares what makes geese so fascinating, the role they play in our farm ecosystem, and why he’s so passionate about regenerative farming. Known as Chef Patrick’s “Fairy Godfather of Farming,” Andy oversees our farm-to-table program, growing many of the fresh vegetables and microgreens featured on The Inn and Patty O’s menus. Magnetic, endearing, and genuinely funny, Andy turns a simple walk into a moment you’ll talk about long after you’ve gone home.
Having been swept off his feet & spirited away to Little Washington, Farmer Andy Thewlis found himself spellbound by Chef Patrick O'Connell's enchanting realm. Answering the call to adventure, Andy pledged to serve as Chef's Fairy God-Father of Farming. As a bona fide Sorcerer of Soil, Farmer Andy's specialty in farming can only be described as the Avante-Garde of Agriculture. Beyond organic, our Maestro of Micro Greens is taking Chef's farm to new frontiers.
