Step into the picturesque landscape of The Inn at Little Washington with Dave Smith, our Director of Estate Gardens, as your guide through the enchanting gardens and grounds that make the Inn so extraordinary.
This special experience offers a rare, behind-the-scenes deep dive into the exquisite horticultural world surrounding the Inn. Currently offered by golf cart for the comfort and ease of our guests, the tour allows guests to take in the beauty of the grounds while Dave brings each garden to life with stories, insight, and a gardener’s eye for wonder. Along the way, he will answer guests’ gardening questions and share the inspiration, care, and imagination behind these beloved spaces.
The tour winds through the formal beauty of the Low Garden, the quiet magic of the Koi Garden, the fragrant new Garden of Scents formal herb garden, and the lush surroundings of Swan Lake. Guests will also discover the Field of Dreams, the idyllic pastures beyond, the Montmorency cherry orchard, and, as availability allows, enjoy a rare glimpse into select private gardens not typically open to the public.
More than a garden tour, this is an invitation into the living artistry of Little Washington. The landscape reflects the vision and devotion of Patrick O’Connell, whose preservation work in the village was recently honored by the Garden Club of America.
Led with warmth, expertise, and a true sense of wonder, this experience reveals the dreamlike beauty that surrounds the Inn—and the extraordinary world that begins the moment you arrive.
