Awards & Accolades

Through the years The Inn at Little Washington is fortunate to have been honored with numerous awards and distinctions.

Tom Sietsema's Washington Post Dining Guide gave The Inn its highest score -- Four Stars and said The Inn "...remains the region's most romantic destination and counts among the wittiest" and "...Patrick O'Connell and company continue to spin dreams into reality..."

Again in 2012, Washingtonian Magazine recognized The Inn with its highest ranking of Four Stars - one of only three restaurants in the DC Metropolitan Area to receive this award. It also recognized our Blueberry Squab as one of the Top 10 dishes for 2011.
"Patrick O'Connell's baroque-meets-bucolic inn is 33 years old, and with its playfully luxe cuisine made by perfectionists and a stable of servers who seem to know the second you need something, it delivers one of the nation's superlative dining experiences."

The 2012 Forbes Travel Guide (formerly known as the Mobil Travel Guide) for the 22nd year in a row, awarded The Inn at Little Washington's accommodations its highest accolade - Five Stars, making it one of only 57 hotels in the nation to be so honored.

The 2012 Forbes Travel Guide also awarded The Inn at Little Washington's Restaurant Five Stars for the 21st year in a row making it one of only 25 restaurants nationwide to hold this distinction and the only restaurant in the Washington DC Metropolitan area to have ever received Five Stars.

The American Automobile Association once again for 2012 bestowed its highest accolade - The Five Diamond Award -- on The Inn at Little Washington Restaurant for the 24th consecutive year making it the longest tenured restaurant in the country. AAA also awarded The Inn at Little Washington's accommodations Five Diamonds.

The Inn received the Wine Spectator Grand Award for the 17th consecutive year.

The 2012 Washington DC Zagat Survey once again recognized The Inn at Little Washington as the #1 Restaurant in the Nation's Capital for Décor and Service with a score of 29, 28, 29. The Zagat Surveyors said "there's ‘brilliance in every bite'" and The Inn has a "'drop dead gorgeous' setting and ‘irreproachable' staffers who strive for ‘perfection in every detail'

The Inn at Little Washington was included on both Condé Nast Traveler's Annual Gold List and Travel + Leisure Magazine's Top 500 Hotels for 2012.

The Inn has been rated one of the Top 10 Best Restaurants in the World by The International Herald Tribune.

The Inn at Little Washington is a member of Relais & Chateaux and their restaurant group Les Grands Chefs. Chef Patrick O'Connell is the President of Relais & Chateaux North America and serves on the International Board of Directors.

Patrick and The Inn have received a total of five James Beard Awards including Best Chef in the Mid-Atlantic and Best Chef in the U.S.

Robert Mondavi awarded Patrick O'Connell the Mondavi Award for Culinary Excellence and labeled him "the Pope of American Cuisine".
