When you’re in Washington, Virginia we invite you to visit our recently completed restoration of the old tavern across the street. Built in 1740, the structure has the look of a classically beautiful, yet simple, Colonial town fixture. The building now houses The Inn Shops, a series of 5 charmingly decorated period rooms offering a wide variety of custom designed tableware, furnishings, gifts, antiques, jewelry, kitchenware and delicacies from our kitchen.
Each room maintains its own identity much as it might have looked in the 1800s. The various products offered relate to the individual spaces. The old kitchen is now a store for spices, French sea salt, homemade jams, jellies and other food provisions custom–packaged and labeled as well as the very popular Dalmatian patterned chef’s pants and aprons inspired by our four legged mascots. The dining room features an array of glassware and fine china used throughout The Inn, as well as imported Laguiole knives and corkscrews. Pewter, silver and period antiques are available in the old Tavern Room while the old general store section of the building now houses an art gallery showcasing paintings from select artists. Exhibitions take place a few times each year, presently we are offering fine paintings from the Moscow School of Russian Realism, recognized by experts as the 20th Century’s most powerful and vibrant school of art.
We are now offering some of our most popular items online. If you prefer, you may also call the store at 540–675–3451. If you have visited the Inn before and would like to order something that you may have seen during your visit, please contact us.
